My name is David King and I am an artist living in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex.

Primarily interested in portraiture, the main focus of my work is the human face and figure though I also paint some local scenes and still life.

Here are some examples of my work.

**M.K.W. - Winner Brighton & Hove Arts Council (BHAC) 2023

My influences are largely from the figurative tradition.

My approach is based on observation. In depicting the presence of the subject, I am particularly interested in the effects of light on the face and figure.

I enjoy using a range of media, but mostly I employ oils, pastels, charcoal and conté crayon.

I hold a Diploma in Fine Art from MET Northbrook College, Worthing. My work has won prizes in Brighton and Worthing and has also been shown in London and Chichester.

I am on the committee of the West Sussex Art Society and am a member of the Adur Art Collective. I regularly exhibit with both societies.

I work from life sittings and/or from photos.

I can travel a reasonable distance from Shoreham-by-Sea for a meeting to do preliminary sketches and take photos to work from in my own studio.

Portraits can also be commissioned from photos alone.

Prices depend on the size, medium and complexity of the picture.
